The following values are minimum requirements, i.e. they assume above-average training participation. The head of the dojo decides in your best interest about admission, providing for your successful grading.

Seminars | Participation in 3 weekend seminars or one week-long seminar taught by members of the dan-grading jury; make sure that you attend all classes of each seminar. |

When your name is called, take three steps forward in shikko; your uke stays in line and closes up sideways behind you.

Each technique is shown in omote and ura alternatingly (where applicable).
The jury may change ukes during the grading.
At any point, "kotai" (role change) may be asked for.
