Typical aikido entry: step or gliding step towards UKE, followed by a TENKAN turn.

This entry represents a classical aikido principle: defence techniques are never purely passive, they always contain an element of actively meeting the attacker (IRIMI), in the sense of being "one step ahead of UKE".
