Ai-hanmi

Ai-hanmi describes a stance, where both partners are facing each other in a parallel position, turning the same side to the partner ("shake-hands position").

This describes the stance (hamni) that the partners are in upon contact, i.e. when grabbing or when a strike comes down, but not the position they start from.
