Grading for 2nd kyu

Topic

Requirements

The following values are minimum requirements, i.e. they assume above-average training participation. The head of the dojo decides in your best interest about admission, providing for your successful grading.

Minimum Age 1 16 years
Waiting Period 12 months of practice since 3rd kyu
Completed Classes 60 keikos (120 h)
Seminars Participation in 3 seminars, one of them an international or nation-wide seminar outside of Oberursel; make sure that you attend all classes of each seminar.
Special Notes
  • Commit to grading and choose main uke 3 months ahead of the exam
  • Prepare autonomously by practising with your uke and fellow candidates outside regular classes
Grading Fee 30 EUR

Order of the Grading

IMPORTANT: Make sure that your uke has the jo ready when lining up!

Beginning

When your name is called, take three steps forward in shikko; your uke stays in line and closes up sideways behind you.

Bow to shomen
Announcement: "Shomen ni rei"

Bow to partner
Announcement: "Otagai ni rei"
Partners to each other: "Onegai shimasu"

Tai Jutsu

Choice of techniques from the curriculum:

Each technique is shown in omote and ura alternatingly (where applicable).

The jury may change ukes during the grading.

At any point, "kotai" (role change) may be asked for.

Buki Waza

Conclusion

Announcement: "Owari Masho"

Partners to each other: "Arigato gosai mashita"

Bow to shomen
Announcement: "Shomen ni rei"
