"First form" or "arm-stretching pin": tori guides uke's arm over the contact at the elbow and wrist
The term ikkyō (Japanese: 一教) is used in various Japanese martial arts, including judo and aikidō, and refers to a different technique in each discipline. In aikidō, ikkyō refers to a sequence of movements that ends with a holding technique (ude osae 腕押さえ, arm extension grip).
Ikkyō is the basic technique for all osae pins. In particular, it is the foundation for nikyō, sankyō, and yonkyō, but it is also used as an entry for some throws, e.g. koshi-nage.
The principle of ikkyō is based on a clear vertical movement ("going to the top of the mountain") followed by a steep diagonal cut (kesa-giri).
