Anatomy in Movement

(10–11 May 2025)

In this workshop, Cornelius and Amanda Jaeger-Herzog want to create an understanding of anatomy in movement, in particular the myofascial structures and kinetic linkages. This will help us to understand which movements the muscles and joints like and allow, and which less so.

The initially free exercises are primarily intended to be fun and motivate your own spirit of research.

In the course of the event, the two will show how traditional aikido techniques can harmonize with our anatomy. What movements are possible when we free ourselves from the fixed guidelines of the techniques and move freely, and how we can then integrate these free movements back into the traditional techniques.

This workshop offers an exciting opportunity to rediscover and understand your own body. Laughing - also at yourself - helps.

Cornelius is 5th Dan Aikikai. He began with judo and karate in 1979, later focusing on climbing and jiu jitsu, and then aikido from 1996. He has also been involved with contact improvisation since 2010 and the Axis Syllabus since 2014. Due to recurring injuries, he began searching for their causes and for a new basis for movement. Today, he combines martial arts and dance as a way to move without injury, pain and long-term damage, on and off the mat, as well as outdoors. This is the main motivation for his training. Amanda has been increasingly supporting him on this path since 2012.

Amanda is 4th Dan Aikikai. She started aikido in 2002 in Zurich with Ursula Reimer and has been influenced by Frank Doran, Cyndy Hayashi, Miles Kessler, Patrick Cassidy, as well as Jan Nevelius, Jorma Lily and Cornelius Jaeger-Herzog. She has been teaching in Zurich and Lucerne since 2008. In addition to aikido, she has been working with the Axis Syllabus since 2014. She completed her initial medical training followed by TCM studies and has been running her own practice since 2007.
