Synonyms: Aihanmi

Ai-hanmi describes a stance, where both partners are facing each other in a parallel position, front to front ("shake-hands position").

When using the term for techniques it describes the stance that the partners are in upon contact, i.e. when grabbing or when a strike comes down, but not the position they start from.
