Aikido seminar with Jan Nevelius shihan

(10–12 January 2025)

Jan Nevelius shihan’s aikido is characterised by a deep connection between uke and tori, freedom of movement and deliberate ukemi. He is a continuous researcher who keeps exploring the principles behind the external forms and illuminates them from different perspectives. For him, Aikido is communication in movement, which can contribute to physical and mental health. His findings have given generations of aikidoka access to a holistic view of the martial art.

Jan began practising Aikido in 1975. He is a student of Seishiro Endo shihan and Christian Tissier shihan, and he lived in Japan for several years, where he studied under the late Seigo Yamaguchi shihan.

Jan also practises Reiki, Shiatsu, Tai Chi and Qi Gong. He is the author of "Vaken vila" ("Wakeful Rest"), a book about mindfulness.

Jan holds a 7th dan Aikikai. He is one of the founders and principal teachers at Vanadis Aikidoklubb, Stockholm (vanadis-aikido.se).

Information on the Dan Gradings

To take part in the dan gradings, it is important that you complete the following steps at least 4 weeks prior to the seminar:

  1. Get your teacher‘s recommendation: they will inform Jan Nevelius of their approval.
  2. Fill in the Aikikai grading application forms, print them out and sign them. Hand them over to Jan Nevelius at the grading.
(Shodan: 3 application forms / from nidan: 1 form)
  3. Find out about the grading fee and bring it with you to the examination in cash (Swedish kronor, in an envelope with your name on it). Please bear in mind that banks sometimes need a week or more to provide foreign currencies.
  4. Sign up for the seminar on the tab "Registration": let us know in the comments field that you will take part in the grading.

The registration is binding, and you are expected to attend all classes of the seminar. Remember to bring your ukes for the grading and make sure that they also register in good time. If weapons are required for your grading, bring them with you.

Aikido Oberursel only provides the room: Please clarify all questions about the grading with your teacher.
